<image:caption>Image by Cindi Yang Bring in Mirrors It’s the oldest trick in the book. Mirrors are a GREAT way to make a space feel bigger. Hot tip: Place one directly across from a window to bounce around the light in the room. My favorite way to bring in mirrors is to choose one that is extra large and ensure it is reflecting something beautiful—whether it be a window, artwork, or a beautiful vignette in your home.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Image by Cindi Yang Choose Large-Scale Art Instead of a lot of small pieces of art on the wall, choose one large focal piece. Simplifying your art with one big piece fills up more space and helps the room feel less crowded. To make your room feel more spacious, opt for this instead of multiple pieces and avoid one art piece that is too small.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Image by Cindi Yang Go with Clear Furniture Choosing clear furniture, made of materials such as glass or acrylic, is a great way to trick the eye into believing there’s more space. Furniture such as this clear glass coffee table in the living room of my first home serves functionality while also minimizing the visual clutter.</image:caption>

This looks great if you are trying match a white paint with blues. Be mindful that in a north-facing room, the cool tones will be amplified with this color. However, in a south-facing room, it will look softer and a warmer.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Image sourced from Benjamin Moore White Dove by Benjamin Moore There’s a reason why this one is fan-favorite for many. It’s super versatile white paint color that is paired well among various interior design styles. With yellow and grey undertones, it’s a soft and creamy off-white that isn’t too warm. Keep in mind, however, that it may still appear too yellow when pairing it with cool-toned finishes or white appliances.</image:caption>

The bold rug, furniture and colors in this space leads the eye away from the wood trim. At the same time, the trim paired with the bold and modern furniture is the perfect concoction of traditional and eclectic.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Image sourced via pinterest Wallpaper It An easy way to make a space with wood trim more fun is to (drum roll please)…bring in some wallpaper! I love how this room embraces all things beige, but you could bring in more excitement by choosing a wallpaper that is a bolder pattern or a colorful hue. (I personally could fall asleep in this little corner of beige heaven.)</image:caption>

<image:caption>Image sourced via pinterest Keep it Light Keep everything light and nature-centered by choosing a lighter color palette to pair with your wood trim. Here the light wood-toned, skinny-legged dining table and chairs flows seamlessly with the wood trim yet prevents things from looking too “clunky”. The sparse centerpiece allows the wood to be the element that weights down the space.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Image sourced via pinterest Bring the Outdoors Indoors There’s something about the element of wood that taps into our human instinct. It’s a basic element that has served us purpose for thousands of years. Why not work with our wood trim by bringing as much of the outdoors in? It’s a bit more costly, but adding more windows to your walls or skylights in your ceilings will help your wood trim shine. Other ways to bring the outdoors indoors is going with a concrete floor or bring in some brick, which this space has done so beautifully with the fireplace.</image:caption>
